Good service
I posted a review on the Styles and Tangles Facebook page, but the business owners have removed the review option from their page, and my review no longer shows.The barber at this shop refused to trim my female roommate's men's-style haircut because of "religious reasons." The barber, who was cutting a client's hair at the time, denied her a service that she should have equal access to regardless of gender or sexuality. After repeatedly refusing to provide her with service, both the barber and client laughed at her which left her feeling embatasssed and humiliated. She even called before heading to the salon to ensure that she could get a trim.This is extremely unfortunate, and I am appalled by the way staff handled this afterwards. Inuvik has an LGBT community that should have equal access to services, despite someone's narrow-minded religious beliefs. I encourage anyone who supports equality rights in Canada to go to Beaufort Beauty salon instead.I hope this review encourages the business owners at Styles and Tangles to reflect on their current practices and change to provide equal services for all people.
Friend's daughter was refused yesterday, laughed at for refusing to give a man's short hair cut on a female. After the manager making it even worse on Facebook saying it wasn't racist, then offered a 50% discount for her. It was sexist, humiliating and she lost out on cab fairs there and back after phoning in advance for her appointment and how they do men's and women's haircuts. Men get their hair cut for half the price a female does anyway, so it's not very comforting you won't accept any responsibility or loss. She's an independent and intelligent young woman and obviously the government needs to remind you of equal rights. Welcome to the 21st century. Please reconsider your business ethics.
